Hi,

Since I am really curious and since I am pretty sure I am wrong,
can someone confirm that ther is absolutely *no need* to be root
to just build (make bootstrap) GNU Emacs ?

As said in a previous post, where things went wrong with a normal
user, it just passed as root. I can't explain this.

Thank you very much.

Building with a normal user account is strongly recommended as
always, and your problem description is from the category `It
doesn't work.'

Absolutely no need. There must be something wrong with your
system...

Maybe yes maybe not. I also have tried on a gentoo box and a
Debian GNU/linux and they all failed.

Sometimes it happens only on dumping a basic emacs (it
segfaults).

I will investigate.
